This is one trick to boost your immune system and lift your mood. Sounds silly, but it’s a fact. Studies have shown that laughter raises the level of antibodies in the blood and white blood cells that attack bacteria and viruses. It also increases the number of antibodies in the mucus made in the nose and respiratory passages which is the entry point for many germs. You should laugh more!
STAY AWAY FROM SUGAR
Did you know that 16 cubes of sugar can impair the ability of white blood cells to deactivate or kill bacteria? Try to limit your intake of minerals and sugar. You can opt for natural sweetener such as honey.
INCREASE INTAKE OF CITRUS
Who doesn’t love oranges? And guess what they are easy to find. Basically your immune system needs Vitamin C to boost the activity of phagocytes (cells that engulf and ingest bacteria) in the blood. The body can’t store Vitamin C so you need to consume some every day to boost your immune system.
This may not be convenient for some people but the immune system does not necessarily require intense exercise. It could just be going for a walk after the day’s activity, taking the stairs instead of the lift or doing some sit-ups before work. Your immune system responds to exercise by producing more of the blood cells that attack bacterial invaders.
Garlic, onions, ginger, carrots, sweet potatoes, Chilli peppers and other vegetables in soup, stews and other dishes can boost your resistance to infections. Eating veggies may not be in your menu but they need to because they aid in the production of white blood cells.
What you eat, how regularly you exercise and even your attitude/mood all play a role in strengthening your immune system and preventing illness.
